In a fairy tale contest of who is the fairest of them all....the world chooses the most beautiful woman of the world.Yes I enjoy watching the shows and have for years never once questioning and just going with the flow of fun..and for many to know acceptable standards of beauty, brains and body.This televised extravaganza normally break the barriers of what is considered a beauty in a particular culture and society.So we see who can flaunt get the trophy..so run after it parrot all the Mother Teresa lines even though most will end up endorsing products , fashion and film industry and yet others have even won elections .So what is this contest all about???Nothing about beauty but anyone who can sell and sell hard and anything and everything from playboy magazines to toothpaste, to you name it.Are beauty contest an outdated vision of women.....many would agree taking up media space to real issues and even realistic model of women's lives.Most women know their lives are full of realities that are hardly addressed and media is a way to escape those realities ..to dream. I wonder how many people actually realize this?

Is'nt the conception of beauty standardized and marginalized ?

Here is an yet another Miss India wining a beauty title.



India's Nicole Faria has been crowned Miss Earth Talent 2010 after beating 17 other contestants at a talent competition in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

Faria, a 20-year-old girl from Bangalore, won the title at the talent show with a scintillating belly dance that combines Oriental and Middle Eastern style.

"We are ecstatic and overjoyed although we expected it," Faria's father Ian said in Bangalore.

The event raised 100 million Vietnamese Dong, which will be transferred to the local Red Cross to support flood victims in the central region of Vietnam.
